Two Juveniles Arrested for Allegedly Threatening Passengers with Replica Gun on WRTA Bus

Two juveniles, one of whom had warrants, were apprehended on Tuesday for purportedly brandishing a replica firearm and threatening passengers aboard a WRTA bus, as reported by Auburn Police.
Responding to a distress call around 6 p.m. at the Auburn Mall, law enforcement was informed of two males threatening others with firearms upon the arrival of a WRTA bus. Subsequently, the victims sought refuge within the mall premises.
Despite all Auburn officers being occupied with prior incidents, patrol officers swiftly converged at the scene, armed with descriptions of the suspects. One juvenile was spotted attempting to flee from the mall entrance and was promptly apprehended. However, upon search, no weapon was found on him, and he is set to appear in Worcester Juvenile Court on charges related to the incident.
As reinforcements arrived, the 14-year-old suspect was observed heading towards the parking garage. Allegedly disregarding verbal commands to halt, officers drew their firearms. Eventually, compliance was achieved, leading to the discovery of a black handgun – later identified as a replica pellet gun – concealed within the suspect’s jacket.
The arrested 14-year-old was found to have two outstanding warrants from separate incidents, though specific details were not disclosed at the time. Following arraignment on Wednesday, he was remanded into custody without bail.
Auburn Police praised the officers for their swift response and professionalism in resolving the situation peacefully, as stated in a social media post.
