Girls on the Run Worcester County to Host 5K at Polar Park
By What’s Up Worcester Staff

Girls on the Run Worcester County will host its celebratory 5K event on Sunday, May 17, at Polar Park. The organization reported that the upcoming run marks the conclusion of its spring season, which has supported a record 986 girls across the county.
The program focuses on positive youth development for girls in the third through eighth grades. Over an eight to ten week period, participants engage in physical activities, dynamic discussions, and community service projects designed to foster confidence and build peer connections.

The May 17 event serves as a culmination of the season and is open to the general public. Organizers expect approximately 4,000 attendees, including program participants, families, and local community members. The run is untimed, with volunteer coaches encouraging participants to complete the course at their own pace. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit the local Girls on the Run Worcester County council.
Registration for the 5K is currently open. The cost is $55 in advance or $65 on the day of the event, and all registrants will receive a finisher’s medal. On the day of the run, doors at Polar Park will open at 8:30 AM, with the 5K scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM. Event coordinators suggest that attendees arrive early.
Residents interested in registering for the run or exploring volunteer opportunities can find more information on the Girls on the Run Worcester County website.
