Aidan Kearney, known as ‘Turtleboy,’ faces charges of domestic battery in Dedham District Court on December 26th, as seen in photo credit Stuart Cahill/Boston Herald/TNS.

Aidan Kearney, also known as “Turtleboy,” faced a significant legal setback as his bail was revoked on Tuesday during a court appearance at Dedham District Court. The charges against Kearney include assault and battery as well as witness intimidation, with these allegations arising from a woman who claims to have been in a relationship with Kearney for approximately three months. This development adds to the array of legal issues Kearney was already confronting, particularly linked to the Karen Read murder case.

The focal point of the recent case involves a woman who asserts herself as Kearney’s former girlfriend. She disclosed that she had received a subpoena related to an investigation and had arranged for Kearney to visit her apartment for a discussion. Allegedly, during the span of three to four hours, Kearney threatened to disclose personal information and explicit photos of her and purportedly pushed her into a couch. Kearney’s legal representative has refuted these accusations.

Kearney’s bail was rescinded, potentially resulting in his incarceration for up to 90 days. Additionally, he has been instructed not to communicate with the woman involved. A pretrial hearing is anticipated to take place in January, further navigating the legal trajectory of this case.

Resident in Holden, Kearney has been prominently vocal in critiquing the investigation pertaining to Karen Read, charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe in Canton last January. Kearney’s stance posits Read as being framed, a viewpoint contested by prosecutors. He has extensively written about this case, totaling over 150 articles, presenting a narrative of an extensive cover-up involving individuals present at the site where O’Keefe was discovered deceased.

According to prosecutors and a grand jury, Kearney is accused of collaborating with a police dispatcher to intimidate three individuals, among them a Massachusetts State Police investigator engaged in the aforementioned case. The recent indictment comprises 16 charges encompassing counts of witness intimidation, conspiracy to intimidate witnesses, and picketing a witness.

The dispatcher is confronting a conspiracy charge in this matter. Kearney himself faces accusations of witness intimidation and picketing a witness. Kearney vehemently refutes these allegations, with his legal representation asserting that his actions are protected under the First Amendment.

The Read case has sparked widespread discussion on various social media platforms, giving rise to diverse theories. The increased attention on this case prompted Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey to release a video statement condemning what he described as “absolutely baseless” harassment and vilification of witnesses related to the case. Morrissey emphasized the importance of evidence over conjecture, stating firmly, “Innuendo is not evidence.”

As this legal saga unfolds, it serves as a stark reminder of the complexities surrounding ongoing legal proceedings and the necessity for due process. Additionally, for individuals experiencing domestic violence or requiring assistance, resources such as:
