Pro-Israel Billboard Vandalized on I-290 West in Worcester, Jewish Federation Calls for Action.

In a recent act of vandalism, a pro-Israel billboard on I-290 West in Worcester has been defaced, sparking concern among the local community. The original billboard, which was created and distributed by the Jewish organization JewBelong, featured the message “Let’s be clear: Hamas is your problem too” in bold white letters.

However, vandals took it upon themselves to deface the billboard, painting over the words “your problem too” and adding their own message in black writing: “FREEING PALESTINE.” To further amplify their message, they also inscribed “Israel murdered 25,000 people” in the bottom right corner of the billboard.

As a result of this act of vandalism, the modified message on the billboard now reads: “Let’s be clear: Hamas is FREEING PALESTINE. Israel murdered 25,000 people.” This alteration has ignited strong reactions within the community, particularly among supporters of Israel who view it as a wrongful and misleading portrayal of the ongoing conflict.

The Jewish Federation of Central Massachusetts, in response to this incident, is calling for swift action to address the vandalism. They urge authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter and hold those responsible accountable for their actions. Recognizing the importance of maintaining a respectful and inclusive dialogue, the Federation emphasizes the need for peaceful conversations and mutual understanding in addressing complex issues such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In an effort to gather information and identify the individuals behind this act of vandalism, the Worcester Police are appealing to the public for assistance. Anyone with relevant information or knowledge of the perpetrators is urged to come forward and contact the Worcester Police, allowing them to take appropriate action.

This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing tensions surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the importance of fostering respectful dialogue and peaceful resolutions. It is hoped that through collective efforts, the community can come together to promote understanding, empathy, and a peaceful coexistence between all parties involved.
