Following a Worcester shooting, a man is detained after being found in possession of a machine gun.

Worcester, Massachusetts witnessed a shocking event on Thursday when 21-year-old Chance Brown was charged with several firearms-related crimes. Worcester Police received a shots fired call on Main Street just before 11:30 a.m. Although officers on the scene didn’t locate a victim, a preliminary investigation pointed towards a white Toyota Camry being involved in the incident.
Later that day, a patrol officer spotted the Camry driving on Main Street and attempted to pull the vehicle over near Hammond Street. The Toyota took off and fled down Glenwood Street, where two people jumped out of the car and fled on foot. Despite the efforts of the officer, they were unable to locate the suspects.
However, a short time later, another patrol officer spotted the Camry on Southbridge Street and successfully pulled the car over. Brown was the only person in the car and was promptly arrested. Upon inspection of the Camry, authorities found a loaded handgun with a defaced serial number and a “Glock switch.” The “Glock switch” is a handgun modifier that can convert the weapon into a machine pistol, capable of automatic fire.
Brown was charged with unlawful possession of a machine gun, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity firearm, improper storage of a large capacity firearm, possession of a large capacity feeding device, and failure to stop for police.
The Worcester Police Department is currently investigating the incident and is asking anyone with information to come forward. The charges against Brown highlight the importance of following firearms regulations and the dangers of illegal firearms in communities.
