Worcester Invites You to Shape a Safer Future
In the heart of Worcester, where vibrant communities and rich history meet, preparation has always been key to resilience. Now, the City of Worcester Emergency Communications & Management Department is asking for your help to ensure our city remains strong in the face of natural hazards.
Through a newly launched community survey, residents and business owners have the chance to shape the city’s 2025-2030 Hazard Mitigation Plan. This vital document identifies the natural hazards that may impact Worcester and outlines actionable steps to reduce those risks. But it can’t be done without you.
Why Your Voice Matters
Imagine a sudden storm or flash flood striking Worcester. Which neighborhoods face the highest risks? What proactive steps could better protect our homes and businesses? These are the questions the city needs your input to answer.
By completing the survey, you can share your insights about:
- The natural hazards that concern you most.
- Areas in Worcester most vulnerable to damage.
- Potential actions the city could take to mitigate these risks.
The city’s Hazard Mitigation Plan, once approved by FEMA and adopted locally, will allow Worcester to apply for crucial hazard mitigation grant funds. These grants are essential for preemptive actions and recovery efforts, ensuring Worcester can weather the storms—literally and figuratively.
