Worcester School Committee to Review Superintendent, Cybersecurity, Nelson Place Concerns at Aug. 13 Meeting

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester families, students and residents will have several education issues to follow when the Worcester School Committee meets Thursday, Aug. 13, including the superintendent’s annual evaluation, questions surrounding student placement at Nelson Place School, district cybersecurity practices and more than $120,000 in proposed prior-year payments.
The committee is scheduled to begin in executive session at 4 p.m., followed by an open session at 4:30 p.m. in the Esther Howland Chamber at Worcester City Hall. A virtual attendance option will also be available to the public.
The meeting agenda includes a mix of routine district business and several items seeking additional public information or administrative review.
Superintendent Evaluation Scheduled
One of the meeting’s primary general business items is the evaluation of the Worcester Public Schools superintendent for the 2025-2026 school year.

The district will also consider donated temporary warehouse space at 220 Barber Avenue from Chacharone Properties, curriculum and professional development materials from Carnegie Hall Musical Explorers Digital, and several monetary donations to Worcester Technical High School in memory of Joseph Alfego.
Possible MassHire Services for Students
Another agenda item asks the administration to explore services that could be available to Worcester students seeking jobs or internships through the MassHire Worcester Career Center and Worcester Workforce Board opportunities.
The item, submitted by School Committee member Biancheria, is recommended for referral to the administration.
If pursued, the discussion could provide additional information about how Worcester Public Schools students may connect with employment, internship or workforce-development opportunities.
Contract Negotiations Set for Executive Session
Before the public portion of the meeting, the School Committee is scheduled to enter executive session to discuss collective bargaining strategy involving the Educational Association of Worcester.
The agenda identifies negotiations involving Units A/B as well as the paraeducators unit.
