Worcester Police responded early Thursday morning to a breaking and entering on Mill Street that led to a dramatic foot chase and water rescue. A juvenile male was ultimately arrested after fleeing from officers and jumping into Patch Pond, where officers entered the water to bring him safely into custody. The suspect now faces multiple charges, including unarmed burglary and possession of burglarious tools. The incident may be connected to recent break-ins in the Tatnuck Square area. WPD Officers Arrest Juvenile Male in Connection with Breaking and Entering

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 11/6/2025 11:43 am

On November 6, 2025, at approximately 4:27 a.m., Worcester Police officers were dispatched to a residence on Mill Street for an in progress breaking and entering. The victim stated that they observed the male breaking in on their security cameras. The victim provided officers with a detailed description of the suspect and what he was wearing. Several officers responded to the area and observed the suspect who fled on foot. A perimeter was secured, and a search was initiated.

At approximately 6:22 a.m., a Massachusetts State Police Trooper located a male matching the description of the suspect on Glendale Street. The suspect again fled on foot from officers. He wound up in a resident’s backyard and with nowhere else to go, the suspect jumped into Patch Pond. A Manny Tube was deployed for the safety of the suspect and the officers. Officers jumped into the water and placed the male into custody. He was determined to be a juvenile. Officers gave him a thermal blanket to stay warm before he was taken to a nearby hospital to be medically evaluated.

The juvenile is charged with Unarmed Burglary in Nighttime, Larceny Under $1,250 (two counts), Malicious Destruction of Property (two counts), Possession of Burglarious Tools and Resisting Arrest.

This arrest comes after two breaking and entering incidents in nearby Tatnuck Square. The Worcester Police Department’s Detective Bureau is investigating to see if the juvenile was responsible for those incidents as well.
