The City of Worcester Department of Parks, Recreation & Cemetery announced on Tuesday two major renovation projects set to begin on Monday, November 3, 2025.
Dog Park Renovations
Renovations are planned for the existing dog parks at Beaver Brook and Vernon Hill. Improvements will include new pea and rice stone surfacing, benches, trash receptacles, a water bottle filling station, and solar lights at Beaver Brook.
Work at Beaver Brook is scheduled to start on November 3 and is expected to last for approximately two months, depending on weather conditions. Renovations at Vernon Hill will begin immediately after the completion of the Beaver Brook project.

Worcester Common Franklin Street Sidewalk Renovation
A separate project will focus on sidewalk renovations along Worcester Common’s Franklin Street. This work is scheduled to begin on November 3 and is expected to take approximately two months to complete. The project includes the in-kind replacement of approximately 3,000 square feet of concrete pavers.
Construction will be carried out in phases to minimize impacts on pedestrian traffic, crosswalks, pathways, and access to Worcester Common and City Hall. The Bus Shelter and Bus Stop will remain open throughout the project’s duration, with detour signage installed as needed.
