Worcester is stepping up its fight against litter, and the city is calling on you to help shape a cleaner, greener future! On Thursday, the City of Worcester unveiled an innovative crowdsource map, inviting residents to share their input on where 150 to 200 new trash and recycling bins should be placed across the city in 2025.

“Making Worcester a cleaner city is a top priority of the municipality’s new Strategic Plan,” shared City Manager Eric D. Batista. “One of the first objectives is to reduce trash and litter in our streets. This is a great opportunity for members of the public to offer input on locations they think are in need of trash and recycling bins to improve our city’s cleanliness. We encourage all residents to engage with the interactive map and select locations.”

The map is simple to use—just “drop a pin” on the locations you believe need trash and recycling bins the most. Whether it’s a busy intersection, a popular park, or a frequently overlooked alley, this is your chance to make a difference in your neighborhood.

The city plans to keep the map open for about two months, allowing plenty of time for residents to get involved. Afterward, the data will guide the municipality in strategically placing bins where they’re needed most, making Worcester streets cleaner and more welcoming for everyone.

This isn’t just about trash; it’s about pride. It’s about building a community that cares for its spaces and each other. So, let’s roll up our sleeves—or rather, tap on our screens—and create a cleaner, brighter Worcester together.

The crowdsource map is live now on the City of Worcester’s website. Don’t miss your chance to have your voice heard and make a visible impact on our city!
