Two teenagers face charges of assault and battery after Worcester police respond to multiple incidents of pedestrians being targeted with paintball gunshots.

According to official statements, individuals were left startled and covered in paint after a gray Honda Civic allegedly pulled up near them, from which a male assailant fired paintballs at them.

Their vigilance paid off when, in the early hours of February 10, a patrol officer observed a vehicle matching the description provided by the paintball victims. The officer noted the vehicle’s high-speed trajectory from Pleasant to Hudson Street before initiating a traffic stop.

As the officer approached the vehicle, a male occupant bolted from the scene, fleeing toward Pleasant St. Despite the fleeing suspect’s attempt to evade capture, law enforcement swiftly apprehended a 16-year-old individual whose name has not been disclosed at this time.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 19-year-old David Asemani. Asemani, who was found to have a suspended driver’s license, was promptly taken into custody. Inside the vehicle, authorities discovered a paintball gun, further solidifying suspicions regarding the nature of the incidents.

Both Asemani and the apprehended teenager are now facing multiple charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, marking a significant development in the ongoing investigation.
