Worcester Housing Authority Prepossess Build Of Economic Opportunity Center For Residents

Worcester Housing Authority

The Worcester Housing Authority (WHA) is taking steps to provide housing opportunities in the city by proposing to build an Economic Opportunity Center for its residents. The center will be located near the Great Brook Valley development, and will offer various services, including property management offices, self-sufficiency programs, a resident service office, a childcare center, and a computer lab that offers training and workshops. The Worcester Public Library’s Great Brook Valley branch will also be relocated to the proposed building.

According to documents filed with the Worcester Planning Board, the WHA has proposed a 31,000-square-foot Economic Opportunity Center at 67 and 69 Tacoma St. in Worcester. The project is part of a $10 million award to the WHA by the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development’s Gateway Cities Neighborhood Revitalization Program.

The proposal involves demolishing two existing buildings owned by the WHA to make way for the new building. The planning board will hear the proposal on March 15. The WHA is also redeveloping the Curtis Apartments and has issued a request for proposals to redevelop its Lakeside Apartments. In July, the WHA purchased the former location of Sun ’N’ Sound in Webster Square to use as maintenance facilities and property management offices for the neighboring Webster Square Towers.

WHA CEO Alex Corrales previously told WBJ that the organization will be taking a more active role in property development, rather than only managing its current holdings. In August, the WHA broke ground on a 24-unit residential building called A Place to Live, aimed at providing housing for members of Worcester’s homeless population.

The Economic Opportunity Center is part of the WHA’s efforts to provide housing and support for Worcester residents. The proposed center offers a range of services aimed at promoting self-sufficiency and economic growth. The WHA’s commitment to expanding its role in property development and management is expected to benefit the city and its residents for years to come.

I intended to send you a very little word to say thanks a lot the moment again for the breathtaking principles you’ve shared at this time. It is so remarkably generous of you to deliver extensively exactly what most of us could possibly have offered for an ebook to generate some profit on their own, most importantly now that you might have tried it in case you desired. Those tactics additionally worked to be the fantastic way to know that most people have a similar zeal similar to my own to know the truth whole lot more in terms of this matter. I know there are a lot more pleasant situations ahead for many who take a look at your site.
