The Worcester Public Schools School Committee will hold its next meeting on Thursday, March 5, 2026, beginning with an executive session at 5:00 p.m., followed by an open session at 5:30 p.m.

The meeting will take place in person at the Esther Howland Chamber inside Worcester City Hall. A virtual participation option will also be available via Zoom. According to the official agenda notice issued by the Clerk of the School Committee, members of the public may attend either in person or remotely. The notice states that the meeting will not be suspended or terminated if technological problems interrupt the virtual broadcast, unless required by law.

Executive Session Items

The Committee is scheduled to enter executive session pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30A, Section 21(a), for several purposes, including:

• Review of executive session minutes from February 26, 2026
• Discussion of strategy related to collective bargaining and Grievance 25/26-17
• Discussion of Open Meeting Law complaints filed by Robert Contois and Aislinn Doyle

These matters will not be discussed in open session.

Open Session Agenda Highlights

Following executive session, the open meeting will include:

• Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem performed by C.J. Franklin, grade 11, from Doherty Memorial High School
• Approval of minutes from recent Finance Standing Committee and School Committee meetings
• Consideration of a donation of 50 hand-knit winter hats from Claudia Cullen for students at Vernon Hill
• Notification of new hires and resignations
• Superintendent’s Report
• Standing Committee reports

The Committee will also consider approval of a $3,000 grant from the Toshiba American Foundation to support a school gardening project at Challenge & Reach.

MCAS and Accountability Reports

Two general business items will be taken collectively. These include:

• A request for a detailed report on the district’s plan to address student achievement in light of recently released MCAS results
• A request for a report on the district’s school accountability data, including four-year cohort graduation rates, extended engagement rates, chronic absenteeism, and advanced coursework completion

According to the agenda, the recommendation for these items is to approve and file the administrative responses.

Public Comment

Members of the public may address the Committee for up to two minutes on any agenda item. Speakers must state their name, residence, and the item they wish to discuss for the record. Public comment may be delivered in person or remotely. Individuals wishing to speak in a language other than English are asked to notify the Clerk in advance to allow time to arrange interpretation services.

The full agenda and participation details are available through Worcester Public Schools.

The next scheduled School Committee meeting is listed for March 19, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. in the Esther Howland Chamber.
