WORCESTER, MA — Worcester City Council Vice Chairman Khrystian E. King is calling for compassion, support and space for grieving following the death of Officer Kurt Solomon, whose loss has affected his family, colleagues in law enforcement and members of the Worcester community.

King, an at-large city councilor, released a statement Wednesday, Aug. 19, expressing condolences to Solomon’s family and those who knew and worked alongside him.

“My deepest condolences and prayers are with the Solomon family as they endure the heartbreaking and tragic loss of Kurt Solomon,” King said in the statement.

King said Solomon’s family, friends, law enforcement colleagues and the wider Worcester community should be given the space and support needed to grieve.

The statement also addressed how the community responds following the loss. King called for residents to approach the situation with “unity, sensitivity, and care” while supporting one another.

King also referenced Solomon’s wife. According to the councilor’s Aug. 19 statement, authorities were reportedly seeking her at that time. King said he hoped she would be located safely and quickly for the sake of the family and others affected.

The statement does not provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding Solomon’s death, the law enforcement agency with which he served, or the circumstances surrounding the reported search for his wife. It also does not provide an update on whether she has since been located.

King’s statement was released through his Worcester City Council office at City Hall.

For Worcester residents, the statement represents an official response from city leadership as Solomon’s family, colleagues and others connected to him process the loss. Additional information should be considered confirmed only when released by the appropriate law enforcement agency or another official source.
