Weather Alerts – Worcester, MA: Winter Storm Warning
From Tue 1 am until Wed 1 am EST
Worcester, MA – February 11, 2024: The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Worcester, Massachusetts, and surrounding areas, effective from 1 am Tuesday until 1 am Wednesday Eastern Standard Time. Heavy snowfall is anticipated, with total accumulations expected to range between 7 to 13 inches, accompanied by winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
The warning extends to portions of northern Connecticut, central, eastern, northeastern, and western Massachusetts, as well as northern Rhode Island. Commuters and residents in these areas are advised to exercise caution and make necessary preparations as the storm approaches.
Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly, with snowfall rates reaching 1 to 2 inches per hour at times. This could result in very difficult to impossible travel conditions, particularly impacting the Tuesday morning commute. Additionally, areas of blowing snow may significantly reduce visibility, further exacerbating travel hazards.
In anticipation of potential power outages, residents are urged to take precautionary measures. If travel is unavoidable, it is advised to keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in vehicles for emergency situations.
The public is encouraged to stay updated on weather forecasts and heed any advisories or warnings issued by local authorities. Please stay safe and prepared during this winter weather event.
