Tragedy in Hubbardston: The Untimely Death of Mitchell Burke

HUBBARDSTON—A grim discovery shook the quiet town of Hubbardston when the body of 32-year-old Mitchell Burke from Worcester was found in the woods off Brigham Street. The discovery, made around 10 a.m. on Saturday, marks a tragic end to Burke’s disappearance, which had been shrouded in mystery since December 31, 2024.

According to court documents, Burke’s mother last saw her son when he took her car to meet Ryan Wilcox, his former boss, on the night he went missing. This meeting proved to be the last time anyone saw Burke alive.

The investigation quickly led authorities to Wilcox, who admitted to being with Burke on that fateful night. In a chilling confession, Wilcox revealed that he had struck Burke multiple times with a metal baseball bat, delivering fatal blows to his head and body. The brutal attack left no room for survival, as Wilcox detailed the horrific events to the police.

Following this confession, Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. announced Wilcox’s arrest on Sunday afternoon. Wilcox faces a slew of charges, including armed assault with intent to kill, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, and assault with a dangerous weapon. The severity of these charges underscores the violent nature of the crime.

As Wilcox prepares to be arraigned in Worcester Central District Court on Monday, the community watches closely, seeking justice for Burke and solace for his family.
