WORCESTER, MA — Residents experiencing muscle tightness, back discomfort or a stiff neck can reserve a free 30-minute pain management treatment during a one-day event at Tough Love Massage 2.
The treatments will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at 130 Millbury St. in Worcester.
Appointments are required, and participants must reserve a time slot in advance. Tough Love Massage 2 said availability is limited.
The business lists neck and shoulder pain, back pain, sciatica, muscle tightness, sports injuries and chronic pain among the concerns addressed through its services.
I recently had an opportunity to experience a massage at Tough Love Massage 2 with Binnie Nguyen, LMT, CLT.
Before the session, I had considerable tension throughout my upper and lower back. My neck was also stiff, making it difficult and uncomfortable to turn my head toward the left.
Nguyen began by asking where I was experiencing discomfort. She then focused the session on those specific areas instead of following a general approach that did not account for what I was feeling.
At one point, Nguyen walked on my back to apply deeper pressure. I was not sure what to expect, but the technique was surprisingly pleasant.
The difference was noticeable when the session ended. My back felt less tense, my neck moved more comfortably and I left feeling relieved. Based on the experience, I plan to return.
The visit also gave me a better understanding of why an introductory treatment may be useful for someone who has never received a professional massage. Some people may be curious but uncertain about what happens during a session, what kind of massage fits their needs or which questions they should ask.

According to her professional biography, Nguyen earned a Bachelor of Science in pre-medical studies from Hawaii Pacific University. She later completed advanced training at the Bancroft School of Massage Therapy and the Norton School of Lymphatics.
As a certified lymphedema therapist, Nguyen offers specialized post-surgical massage featuring Complete Decongestive Therapy and Manual Lymph Drainage techniques. Her other areas of practice include deep tissue, sports and trigger point therapy.
Tough Love Massage 2 describes Nguyen’s sessions as personalized to each client’s needs, with a focus on relieving pain, reducing stress and supporting movement and overall wellness.
The Sept. 11 event will allow residents to experience a shorter treatment before deciding whether therapeutic massage is something they want to explore further.
Individual experiences and results may vary. Massage is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment. Anyone experiencing severe, unexplained or persistent pain should speak with an appropriate healthcare professional.
