Worcester may have retired the official “First Night” brand years ago, but the local scene has more than stepped up. From toddler-friendly celebrations to rooftop parties with city skyline views, the Heart of the Commonwealth is ready to welcome 2026. Here’s where to be when the clock strikes midnight.

1. Family Fun: The “Noon Year” Tradition

EcoTarium’s Noon Year’s Eve
A Worcester favorite, the EcoTarium is hosting a science-themed celebration on December 31 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Families can enjoy hands-on experiments, rocket launches, and a balloon drop at noon to ring in the new year early.

Worcester Public Library
The main branch at Salem Square hosts crafts, games, and a Noon Year countdown for little ones. Be sure to check the library’s calendar for exact hours and any last-minute changes.

2. High Above the City: Roaring ’20s at VUE

For a high-end experience with stunning skyline views, head to VUE Cocktail Lounge at 446 Main Street.

  • 1920s Cocktail Dinner | 7 p.m.
Jazz ensemble, raw bar, and caviar stations set the scene for an elegant start to the night.
  • Roaring 20s Celebration | 9:30 p.m.
Live music by Niki Luparelli and The Grave Diggers leads to a sparkling midnight toast. Dress to impress and enjoy a Gatsby-worthy night.

Pro Tips for the Night

Transportation: Check the WRTA holiday schedules before heading out, routes may run on modified schedules.

Safety First: Report non-emergency issues via the Worcester 311 Portal.

Weather Check: Winter weather can leave sidewalks slick. Plan ahead and dress appropriately for walking in cold conditions.

Worcester, let’s make 2026 the best year yet!
