While the theater district and sports arenas are buzzing, the real soul of Worcester this weekend can be found in our neighborhoods. From the Canal District to the shores of Lake Quinsigamond, local makers and community organizers are hosting the final major “shop local” push of 2025.

Here is your verified guide to the festivals and markets happening Saturday, December 20, and Sunday, December 21.

1. The Yuletide Village Market (Lake Ave)

  • When: Saturday, Dec 20, starting at 2:00 PM
  • Where: Bees & Thank You (50 Lake Avenue, Worcester)
  • The Scoop: This is the quintessential “neighborhood” fest. The event features a curated selection of local small businesses, a holiday concert, and even a festive drag show.
  • Don’t Miss: The free hot cocoa bar and the on-site food truck, perfect for a cozy afternoon by the lake.

2. Worcester Railers Takeover at The Oval

  • When: Saturday, Dec 20, 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Where: Worcester Common Oval (Behind City Hall)
  • The Scoop: If you aren’t at the DCU Center for the game, the game is coming to you. The Railers are taking over the outdoor rink for a community skate. Expect appearances by TRAX and team representatives.
  • Admission: $6.00 (Children 5 and under skate free). Skate rentals are available for $6.00.
  • Sunday Bonus: On Dec 21, the Oval hosts Skate with Santa Claus from 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM.

3. The Winter Market on Brussels

  • When: Sunday, Dec 21, 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Where: Blissful Meadows / Market On Brussels (130 Brussels Street, Worcester)
  • The Scoop: This indoor/outdoor winter market is the place to be for late-season gifting. It features local artisans, specialty meads from Bliss Point Meadery, and a rotating selection of Worcester’s best craft vendors.

4. Canal District “Last Call” Shopping

  • When: Sat 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM | Sun 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Where: Crompton Collective and Worcester Public Market (Green St & Harding St)
  • The Scoop: The Canal District remains the epicenter of the city’s creative economy. Stop by Crompton Collective for antique finds and locally handmade jewelry, then head next door to the Public Market for global cuisine and artisan spices.
