WORCESTER — A series of public cultural events highlighting Dominican heritage are scheduled to take place across Worcester on Friday, February 27, 2026. The coordinated day of programming is organized by Dominican Marketplace Worcester 2026 and will feature multiple gatherings at locations throughout the city.
The day focuses on history, arts, and local economic participation within Worcester’s Dominican community, which city data identifies as one of the largest Latino populations in the region.
Flag Raising and Artistic Recognition The programming begins at 12:00 p.m. with a Dominican Republic flag raising ceremony outside Worcester City Hall. The ceremony is intended to recognize Dominican history and the longstanding presence and contributions of Dominican residents in Worcester.
Following the ceremony, a Latino Art Fusion reception is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Jean McDonough Arts Center. The reception will feature visual artwork by Dominican artists and focus on cultural expression and identity through art. Organizers describe the event as an opportunity to highlight Dominican creativity within the broader Latino arts community.
Evening Marketplace and Community Support The day concludes with the Dominican Marketplace, running from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at The White Room. The marketplace is a family-friendly cultural event featuring Dominican-owned businesses, food vendors, music, and live performances.
According to organizers, proceeds from the marketplace will support Casa Cultural Dominicana de Worcester and contribute to expanded cultural and educational programming. The event is designed to acknowledge the presence of more than 15,000 Dominican residents in the city through public celebration and economic activity.
Additional logistical details, including specific admission information and full lists of participating vendors, are pending final confirmation.
