On Wednesday, a WRTA bus driver was stabbed in Worcester.

The individual who attacked a bus driver near Lincoln Plaza on Wednesday is being sought by Worcester police.

Officers were dispatched to the 494 Lincoln St. area shortly before 2:40 p.m. for a complaint of a stabbing on a Worcester Regional Transit Authority bus.
The bus driver was discovered with non-life-threatening stab wounds, according to authorities.

The victim, who has yet to be recognized, was taken to a nearby hospital. His condition has not been updated.

“Someone got on the bus and stabbed the driver. It happened in an instant. The individual got off the bus and fled away “While speaking with reporters at the scene, Worcester police Lt. Sean Murtha said.

The individual is currently being sought by Worcester police, according to the department. The place has also been visited by state police and WRTA officers.

Todd Kazakiewich of NewsCenter 5 noticed an article of clothing on the ground that seemed to be stained with blood.

The details surrounding the stabbing on the bus have not yet been released by police, however, cameras on the vehicle may have filmed what happened.

The Worcester Regional Transit Authority (WRTA) is a regional transit system that serves the city of Worcester and 36 municipalities in central Massachusetts.

The police address of 494 Lincoln St. is the listed address for Denny’s restaurant on the corner of Lincoln Street and Country Club Boulevard.
