As the November 5th, 2024 State Election approaches, it’s time to prepare to make your voice heard. Voting is a constitutional right given to every American, and every vote, including yours, makes a difference.

On June 22, 2022, the VOTES Act was signed into law, making several temporary changes from the pandemic permanent. This means more flexibility for voters in Massachusetts, including expanded options for early voting and vote-by-mail. Here’s everything you need to know to be ready for Election Day.

Key Dates to Remember:

  • Voter Registration Deadline: October 26, 2024
  • Vote by Mail Application Deadline: October 29, 2024
  • Election Day: November 5, 2024 (Polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.)

What’s on the Ballot?

  • U.S. Senator
  • U.S. Representative
  • Governor’s Council
  • State Senator

  • County Commissioner (Certain Counties)

Early Voting Options

Vote In-Person Early:

If you’re registered to vote in Worcester, you can take advantage of early in-person voting at any designated location across the city. Early voting provides flexibility and helps avoid long lines on Election Day.

Vote By Mail:

To vote by mail, be sure to submit your vote-by-mail ballot application by October 29, 2024. You can request your application online or use the PDF application form. Once completed, ballots can be returned by mail or dropped off at one of the following locations:

  • Worcester City Hall
  • Early voting locations (during scheduled hours)
  • Any Worcester Fire Station drop boxes

Ballots must be returned by the close of polls on Election Day, with postmarked ballots accepted through November 8 (for U.S. ballots) or November 15 (for ballots from overseas).

Accessible Voting by Mail

The Accessible Vote by Mail system is available for voters who cannot mark a paper ballot due to a disability. This system allows you to receive and submit your ballot electronically or print and return it physically.

To apply, contact the Worcester Election Office at [email protected]. Make sure to submit the Accessible Vote by Mail Application, including your voter information, ballot choices, and any accommodation needs.

Vote In-Person on Election Day

Prefer to vote in person on Election Day? Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.. You can check your polling location and verify your voter information online by entering your last name and date of birth in the Worcester voter database.

With so many ways to vote, there’s no excuse not to participate in this election. Your vote can make a difference, whether you’re casting it for local offices or for national races like the U.S. President. Make sure to mark your calendar and take the necessary steps to ensure your voice is heard this November.
