A Creative Duo Shining a Light on Worcester
Worcester, MA, long called a hidden gem, is often overlooked and misunderstood. But for Esther and Juan Flores, the team behind The Woo Scene, the second-largest city in New England is much more than a stop on the map. It’s their home, their inspiration, and the canvas for a project that’s putting Worcester’s vibrancy right in the spotlight.

The Woo Scene is a collaboration of vision and balance. Esther brings the creativity, ideas, and unstoppable energy. Juan brings the grounding, structure, and consistency needed to turn those ideas into something real. Together, their partnership fuels a mission that’s both simple and powerful: to showcase Worcester for what it truly is, colorful, lively, and passionate.
“This is our city. Our story. Let’s own it,” Esther told What’s Up Worcester.
From Milford to Worcester: Finding Home in the City
Esther’s Worcester story began in her teenage years. She arrived as a freshman at North High before transferring to Voke High for graphic design. Creativity wasn’t new; her family is filled with musicians and vibrant personalities, but Worcester gave her the stage to turn that energy into something bigger.

Compared to her small-town start in Milford, Worcester felt like a whole new world. “The historic buildings, the food, the city vibe, the people, it captured me,” she says. “What keeps me here is knowing Worcester’s potential.”
That potential fuels The Woo Scene, a platform built to challenge the tired question, “Where’s the fun in Worcester?” Esther’s answer is bold and clear: We are the fun. From farmers markets to nightlife, from local food to live music, Worcester has a pulse. And The Woo Scene is here to show it.
Worcester’s Strengths and What Still Needs Work
Asked how Worcester shows up for her, Esther doesn’t hesitate: opportunity.
“Worcester gives me the chance to create, to expose what’s here, and to showcase the amazing people that make this city so special.”
The city gets one big thing right: its arts and its energy. Festivals, galleries, murals, music—Worcester celebrates creativity at every corner. But Esther is honest about what needs to improve: “We have to push Worcester forward and showcase its greatness on a bigger scale. Not exploit it or talk badly about it, but highlight it, believe in it, celebrate it. We are part of the solution.”
A Community That Inspires
For Esther, inspiration isn’t found in one person; it’s found in all of Worcester. “Every single one. I see the passion and the desire to create and make change in their eyes,” she says.
One moment in particular left its mark: moving here at 14 and realizing Worcester welcomed her in. “There was a place for everyone here. That sense of community, of belonging, it never left me.”
It’s that memory that drives her vision of Worcester’s future. “When people look back 20 years from now, I hope they remember our passion, our push-through. That we wanted Worcester to be something—and we made it something. When no one believed in us, we did.”
Changing the Narrative

The Woo Scene exists because Worcester deserves better than its reputation.
“Worcester is not a mess. It’s not a bad place to live. We’re full of opportunity,” Esther says. “We need to push forward as a community, showcase our love for the city, and prove that Worcester is great.”
The platform’s mission is clear: expose the beauty, the art, the food, the culture, and the people. Celebrate the everyday wins, the small pop-ups, and the creativity that might otherwise get overlooked. “Because if you’re here, you deserve to be seen,” Esther reminds us.
How the Community Can Help
So how can people support The Woo Scene? It doesn’t take much, just share.
“Keep sharing. Online and through word of mouth. Share events, support small businesses and entrepreneurs. Share Worcester’s vibrancy, its art, its people, its food, its community events,” Esther urges. “Share the small pop-ups, the love, the creativity. Share the good things so everyone can see what Worcester is all about. Be part of the change.”
For Esther and Juan, The Woo Scene isn’t just a brand. It’s a movement—a declaration that Worcester is alive, passionate, and full of stories worth telling.
