It is befitting that the 2025 Harvey Ball gala coincides with the 175th anniversary of the first Women’s Rights Convention, which took place at the very same location, iconic Mechanics Hall, in 1850. Harriette Chandler embodies the spirit of the Smile Award, which is presented annually to an individual, organization or group who has made a difference in the city of Worcester. Champion of women’s rights, education and healthcare, she was the first female president in the Massachusetts State Senate and has worked tirelessly on revitilization efforts in the city. Harvey Ball and “Smiley”
