No Buses, No Worries: A Holiday Pause for WRTA
As the holiday season draws near, the air is filled with excitement, joy, and a little extra hustle. Families are gathering, gifts are being wrapped, and the city is aglow with festive lights. In the spirit of celebration and rest, the Worcester Regional Transit Authority (WRTA) is taking a well-deserved holiday pause.
This year, the WRTA is observing both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, meaning there will be no fixed-route bus service or paratransit service on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025. It’s a moment for their hardworking drivers, staff, and administrative teams to join the community in celebration and recharge for the year ahead.
The Customer Service Center at 60 Foster Street, along with all administrative offices, will also be closed during these dates. Whether you’re a daily commuter, an occasional rider, or someone planning holiday outings, the WRTA wants to ensure you’re informed so you can adjust your plans accordingly.
While buses may take a break, the holiday spirit doesn’t have to. It’s an opportunity to carpool with friends, take a leisurely walk, or explore other transportation options while savoring the holiday magic Worcester has to offer.
So mark your calendars: December 25 and January 1 are set aside for celebration, reflection, and perhaps a little extra time to sip cocoa by the fire. The WRTA will be back to serve you as we step into a bright and hopeful 2025.
Until then, let’s spread some holiday cheer and appreciate the moments that make this season so special. Happy Holidays from the WRTA team—may your days be merry and your journeys joyful!
