Worcester, MA — The Worcester Cultural Coalition (WCC) gathered arts leaders,
community partners, funders, and city officials on October 28, 2025, at the New England
Botanic Garden to celebrate the organization’s Annual Meeting and unveil its new
2026–2029 Strategic Plan, charting a bold course for the future of arts and culture in
Worcester county.
The evening marked a milestone for the Coalition, highlighting a year of growth,
collaboration, and creativity across the city’s cultural landscape. Attendees reflected on
WCC’s achievements, which included expanded artist support, public art activations,
and strengthened partnerships with the City of Worcester, the Barr Foundation, the
Greater Worcester Community Foundation and the New England Foundation for the
Arts.
“The Worcester Cultural Coalition stands as a testament to the power of collaboration,”
said Fabian Barracks, Executive Director of the Worcester Cultural Coalition. “This new
strategic plan represents the collective vision of our members and partners through a
commitment to advancing creativity, inclusion, and sustainability across Worcester
county’s arts and culture ecosystem.”
The 2026–2029 Strategic Plan was developed over sixteen months of community
engagement and board collaboration. It outlines four strategic pillars: foster a thriving
and equitable cultural ecosystem, increase public engagement and cultural visibility,
strengthen leadership and governance, and build organizational and financial resilience.
“This strategic plan is bold and forward-thinking, and the City of Worcester stands firmly
behind it,” said Mayor Joe Petty, “We remain committed to supporting arts and culture
as a driver of equity, opportunity and civic pride.”
The Annual Meeting also served as a moment to recognize the dedicated work of
WCC’s members, who continue to enrich the region through arts education,
performance, and innovation. WCC welcomed five new board members whose
expertise, leadership and dedication will continue to advance the organization’s mission.
Guests were invited to connect, celebrate, and reaffirm their shared commitment to
Worcester’s cultural vibrancy.
“This plan is more than a document — it’s a shared roadmap for the future,” said Jason
Homer, Board Chair of the Worcester Cultural Coalition. “It reaffirms our belief that
Worcester’s creative community thrives when we work together to elevate artists,
organizations, and neighborhoods.”
