The search for Goose, a 5-foot water monitor lizard that went missing in Webster, MA, just took a wild turn; he’s now been spotted across state lines in Connecticut.
Goose was last seen near Blueberry Lane in Webster back on July 18. Massachusetts Environmental Police, Webster PD, and Animal Control searched high and low, even bringing out drones and checking backyard pools, but came up empty. Now, with colder nights rolling in, officials warn his chances of survival could shrink fast. That said, this sun-loving lizard might pop up on someone’s patio, yard, or pool deck in search of warmth.

Fast-forward to Friday, July 25th: the Town of Thompson, CT, posted on social media that Goose may have made a guest appearance near Little Pond and Thompson Road, about 6 miles away by car (or just 2.25 miles as the lizard crawls).
Here’s what you need to know:
📏 Size: Around 5 feet long
🎨 Appearance: Black with white scarring
😎 Vibe: Not aggressive, but keep your distance
🌞 Hobbies: Sunbathing, swimming, climbing trees
🍽️ Eats: Dead rodents (not your flowers)
If you see Goose, do not try to approach him. Call Webster Animal Control at 508-943-1212 or the Connecticut State Police at 860-779-4900.
Oh yeah! And in case you’re wondering, owning a water monitor in Massachusetts without the right paperwork is illegal, so authorities are digging into how Goose got here in the first place.
Keep your eyes peeled, Worcester County. Goose is out there.
