Worcester, MA – August 21, 2023

In a heartwarming display of unity and togetherness, the Worcester branch of the NAACP organized a community cookout that proved to be just what the city needed. The event, which took place this past Saturday, August 19 at Fuller Park, saw a multitude of familiar faces from across the community come together to celebrate and connect.

The cookout, held from 12 PM to 4 PM, provided an opportunity for residents to mingle and share in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. The event, which was free to all attendees, drew a diverse crowd that spanned generations and backgrounds. Families, friends, and individuals from different walks of life were all welcomed with open arms.

One of the highlights of the event was the presence of prominent figures from the city. Khrystian King, who is currently running for mayor, made an appearance and engaged in conversations with the attendees. Jermoh Kamara, who is seeking re-election on the school committee, also joined the festivities.

Children were treated to a bouncy house that kept their spirits high throughout the day, while the sounds of DJ KOOL CHRISS provided a lively backdrop for the event. From classic hits to contemporary tunes, the music resonated with attendees of all ages, creating an atmosphere of pure enjoyment.

Of course, no cookout is complete without mouthwatering food, and this event did not disappoint. Attendees were treated to a variety of delectable options that ranged from barbecued delights to vegetarian dishes. The aromatic scents wafting through the air were enough to entice everyone to gather around the tables and indulge in the delicious food .

Organized by the Worcester branch of the NAACP, this community cookout not only brought people together but also highlighted the importance of fostering unity and understanding within the city. As individuals shared laughter, stories, and smiles, it was clear that this event had successfully achieved its goal of strengthening the bonds that make Worcester a true community.

As the sun set on the cookout, attendees left with a sense of satisfaction and camaraderie. This much-needed event proved that a simple gathering can have a profound impact on a community, reminding us all of the power of coming together and celebrating the rich diversity that makes Worcester thrive.
